We've been chatting today about healthy alternatives for noodles and replacing high calorie comfort food with some yummy fresh veg over winter time. Here are some quick and easy sub outs for for your usual high carb rice, pasta, or potato based dishes. Add garlic, spring onions or even lime or lemon zest to any of the below. You can also add your favourite spices to jazz them up a bit or eat them with your spicy chilli, bolognese, or pesto. πŸ₯¦ Cauliflower (or Broccoli) rice πŸ₯¦ - just blitz cauli or broccoli up in your food processor and then lightly steam for a couple of minutes. You can also buy cauliflower rice in the freezer section at the supermarket if you are tight on time!
πŸ₯• Carrot Noodles πŸ₯• or cucumber noodles work well if you have a spiraliser or decent easy peel peeler
πŸ₯¬ Rough cut Cabbage πŸ₯¬ - either serve raw or you can very lightly steam this too so it still has a bit of crunch for texture
🍠 Kumara 🍠 - either mashed or lightly roasted kumara cubes make a great base.
